General Information

The Battlefield Park Swim Club (BPSC) is a swim team formed in January 2006 from the previous swim club named the Petersburg Swim Association (PSA), which was originally formed in 1996 as one combined swim team consisting primarily of members from both the Battlefield Park Swim & Racquet Club and the Country Club of Petersburg. Just as the previous swim club strived to enlist new swimmers, and provide an environment of competitive fun and learning for swim team members of all ages, the swim club also strives to do the same. BPSC allows swimmers ages 5-17 to participate as members of the team even if their families are not members of the Battlefield Park Swim & Racquet Club, so the team is even more representative of the surrounding community at large.  The team competes against six other swim clubs in the surrounding area  Chester Recreation Association (CRA), Rivers Bend Swim Club(RB), Southbend Swim Team(SB), Stoney Glen Swim Association (SG), Swim & Yacht Club(SYC), and Wood Dale Swim Club(WD).

Registration

We are happy to announce the 2024 swim season is gearing up! Our first practice day is May 13. At our first practice, we will have the Virginia Swim Shop on site so that swim suits and accessories can be purchased.

Please note that we do ask that all swimmers are able to swim down a lane independently. We understand that our younger swimmers may need to take a break to grab the lane line but they must be able to tread water when doing so.

Practice Times

All practices are held at Battlefield Park Swim Club.

Pre-Summer Practices:
Beginning Date:  May 13
5:30 p.m.:  Beginning swimmers of all ages.
6:30 p.m.:  Advanced or experienced swimmers of all ages (knows all 4 strokes).
Monday-Thursday until meets start. No practice on Memorial Day.

Summer Practices:

Daytime:
10:00-11:00
Monday-Thursday
(All ages but swimmer must be able to complete 25M independently.)
Evenings:
Monday-Wednesday
Groups will begin at 5:30. Coaches will be evaluating swimmers needs and placing them appropriately in the practice times.

Practice times may change based on the number of swimmers enrolled.

All evening meets begin promptly at 6:30 pm. Home team warm-ups begin at 5:45pm and the visiting team warm-ups begin at 6:00 pm.  Regularly scheduled Saturday morning meets begin promptly at 8:00 am. Home team warm-ups begin at 7:15 am and the visiting team warm-ups begin at 7:30 am. 

Championship Meet 
CHAMPS is held on Friday evening, July 26 and Saturday morning date July 27.  Age level determines when the swimmer swims.  
Note: Championship warm-ups for older swimmers (11 and over) begin promptly at 5:00 pm on Friday and championship warm-ups for younger swimmers (10 and under) begin at 8:00 am on Saturday. Swimmers must participate in at least two regular season meets to qualify for the championship meet.
